Today was rather incredibly dense. In fact, as I type this, I’m still in the midst of a project, but I wanted to get at least some work done before exhaustion catches up to me and I’m forced to call it a night right on the dot. This time around, I tried my hand at what’s below the belt for once and…I’m of two minds about the results!

While I do think that breaking the hips down into rigid sections that have flab sort of attached in the form of the gluteus maximus and obliques, there is a touch too much guesswork when it comes to what goes where when I bring it into the main figure. There’s no real indicator of where the figure would cinch up which I probably won’t need soon, but I would like while I’m still learning how the torso is formed and the like. As always, it’s a step in the right direction, but whereas I’ve been working on one body segment a day before dedicating a full week to the furthest extremities (hands and feet), I think I may come back to this once again tomorrow and see what exactly went wrong.
And I cannot overstate this that if you, like me, always thought that art was something beyond you, you owe it to yourself to check out Proko and Akihito Yoshitomi. I’d still be tracing contours around images if it wasn’t for them and channels like them like Love Life Drawing and RAZ Comics.
